Writing Villains Workshop - Saturday 13th June 10.30am-2pm at Nourish Cafe, Hertford
Join me for a summer day on the dark side with our Born of Ink: Writing Villains Writing Workshop, running from 10:30am to 2:00pm on Saturday 13th June at Nourish Hertford. It will be an engaging, collaborative session designed for adult writers who want to create complex, unforgettable villains.
We’ll kick things off with a lively group discussion: who is your favourite villain, and why do they stay with you? Using examples like the chilling control of Hannibal Lecter, the ruthless ambition of Lady Macbeth, or the moral descent of Walter White (did we all watch ‘Breaking Bad’? We’ll explore what makes these characters so compelling—and how you can apply those techniques to your own writing.
From there, you’ll take part in a series of interactive, creative exercises to build your own villain from the ground up. Together, we’ll explore motivations, backstory, and the key choices that push a character toward darker paths. Expect plenty of opportunities to share ideas, collaborate, and develop your character in a supportive, relaxed environment.
You’ll also experiment with writing short scenes from your villain’s perspective, helping you uncover their voice and justify their actions in a believable way.
Whether you’re rediscovering your creativity or looking to develop your writing further, this friendly, hands-on workshop offers a space to connect with others, exchange ideas, and have fun with your writing.
Join us for a creative morning of dark imagination—because every great story needs a brilliant villain.
